About Swordmaiden
What is Swordmaiden?
- Swordmaiden is an AI-powered symphonic power metal music project from Leeds, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, UK.
- It blends orchestral grandeur with cinematic storytelling.
- Based on concepts and ideas from the imagination of the human Jack Howard.
How are the tracks created?
- Music is generated using advanced AI systems at Promptus AI. Each song started as a typed in text prompt, which an AI music model then turned into a song.
- Artwork is also AI-generated, using the Promptus Pre-Raphaelite Microsite, which generates 19th-century style paintings.
- The overall creativity, ideas and concepts however are human-directed.
- The tracks are given away free of charge, to listen to or to download, there's no objective to make money here, just to share and enable creativity.
Can you teach me to create tracks of my own?
- Absolutely!
- It's actually very easy to do.
- Make a note of these instructions, then click this link: https://promptus.ai
- Sign up, and buy some credits, take the balance up to 5000 or so - you get 1000 free for signing up.
- Open the App/Site up and click the "Audio" tab below the main prompt box.
- The model should default to Suno Chirp Music Inspiration - that's a good model to start with.
- Type details of the song you want to generate into either prompt box (we recommend the top one as that doesn't get wiped if you change models, the other one does).
- You only have 400 characters so keep it concise, specify the genre, add "with vocals" or "instrumental", and then describe what the song is about. When you're happy with the description, click "Generate", and after a few minutes you'll have a song to play.
- Example: "create a symphonic power metal anthem about women warriors fighting an evil lord for justice and honour".
- Different themes work better with different styles of music - punk is good for angry politics, synthpop is good for sci-fi futures, and so on. Learn about different genres of music and experiment with themes and ideas.
- Some models output two songs for each prompt, if so, have a listen to both.
Isn't Generative AI Problematic?
- As with so many tools, that entirely depends on how it's being used.
- We believe that AI art and music gives amazing creativity into the hands of ordinary people who never had the time or opportunity to study art, learn to play an instrument, or learn to sing. Using these tools doesn't make someone an artist or musician, those things still require proper study, time, and skill to take up. But it does allow anyone to bring the images and ideas they may have had in their minds for years, to life in a way that can be enjoyed and shared.
Our AI Art Manifesto
- We believe everyone should have the opportunity to bring their own creativity to life, and that generative AI can enable that.
- We believe Generative AI should be used responsibly.
- We believe all AI generated art and music should be clearly identified as AI created.
- We believe that AI art should not be sold to compete with human made art, but should be freely shared instead. It should be a tool for creativity, not a get-rich-quick scam.
- Respect what you create. Having made something, take the time to properly appreciate it, play songs several times, leave them and listen again the next day, same with images, take the time to actually look at what you have generated, don't just churn stuff out and discard it.
Why symphonic power metal?
- Because dragons deserve orchestras.
